yup, there is the hair dryer...
Can anyone explain how it grips so well of the line?
Combination of good tyres and a diff or something else?
drag racing tyres run at stoopid temperatures, they also run quite soft, so they put down a huge footprint, then the shear speed of the spinning wheels combined with the rubber create grip. the trick is managing the wheelspin to maintain maximum traction... and totally flooring it is not necessarily the best idea.. until it is moving that is
New doner engine for a nova maybe??
Drag tyres also pull in a pure newtonian impact force into the equation, if you've ever watched them in slow mo the leading edge literally smacks the floor and you can see it rebound/ripple on the back of the tyre. Being that fat, soft and generally huge they'll also balloon out as the car gets quicker, so it starts running on less tyre at a larger diameter towards the end of the run.
Lighter + more aerodynamic than most other Vauxhall's = obvious choiceOriginally Posted by nova16vxe
