because of my hand you mean? well I just rocked up with the skirts, clips and tec screws (and my disabled hand) and my rather awesome mates did all the hard work
because of my hand you mean? well I just rocked up with the skirts, clips and tec screws (and my disabled hand) and my rather awesome mates did all the hard work
oh really was it hard? did u have to screw into the sills?
just read the whole thread mate your doing a really good job mate most people would have funked the car off after finding al that rot and good luck with the convertion xe ftw
keep it up matey i will be looking out for more updates also what suspension and brakes will you be running when the xe is in her
nah its actually fairly simple, just offer the shark fin up and mark where its clip needs to be along the car, bearing in mind you have about an inch to play with, fit the shark fin, then do the same with the skirt. just line the bottom edge of the clip up with the first corner on the sill and its spot on. only took us/them 20 minutes and yeah, I used tec-screws cos they are easy. at least the sills and arches are solid enough to screwinto now
Thanks buddy I'll be honest, my initial reaction was to scrap it, then I saw sense and just got the welder out. and now I know that it is completely solid, and will last me a good few years
and thanks, I cant wait to get it in, and XE's are definitely ftw, smallblock lovers just dont know it yet
i'll keep the updates coming, hopefully get the engine out friday
its currently running -40mm fisher price, my first springs and shocks, and 256x20 corsa sport brakes. when the XE goes in i've got some 2 litre calipers and green stuff pads to go on with these discs. i'll probably keep an eye out for some second hand coilovers for the front, spax or gaz or something good, and get some correct poundage springs for them too.
Wasn't lying when said calibra was rubbish then haha, if ya need an extra pair of hands one night give me a shout.. An can I have first dibs on Your old manifold haha
really like this looks like youve put alot work in to it will be mint with an xe in
aye its a right rotten heap, it makes most Nova's look pretty good Thanks mate, I'll let you know if I do and you can indeed mate, it has your name on it hoping to get the 1.4 out on the 16th so not long
cheers dude, yeah I've put alot of effort into it, it will never be 'finished' but I'll just be glad when it's somewhere near how I want it. I cant wait for the XE
Today the Calibra fulfilled it's destiny as a heart donor
as i'm still disabled, Dan came round to help with the lifty outy bit
modifying the bumper to get a chain round the cross member
after some lifting, cutting, unbolting swearing and bleeding, it started to co-operate
choppy choppy. the easy way to remove drive shafts
then Dan 'slipped and fell'
looks like Napalm has made an engine mount in this picture
and it's free! (sorry about dan looking like a freak )
Dan getting a little over excited
then tidied up as it began to rain and thunder. towed the shell into the road so i could put some cars away, and just as we left it a copper drove by and gave it a long hard look
so here she is, in all her resplendent glory
a proper calibra engine bay
engine looks happy now its not confined to a barge
so now I just need to get it on a stand, give it a good clean and a lick of paint, and stick a cam belt on it too. not long now!
Redtop powwwaaaahhh
