always wondered could you just go third party? seems strange paying for fire and theft when mine is garaged that is alarmed, car is alarmed with snap off steering wheel so i really would imagine its going walkies so can you get it?

tpo, it seems more then risk so it cost more then TPFT
TPO is the minimum level of cover but most will bundle fire and theft in as well. Not sure why you wouldn't want that cover tbh, it doesn't cost much more (if anything) and there's always a risk of fire or theft

Unless you've got an agreed value or modifications covered like for like though, it's not gonna be worth claiming fire or theft for the 20p they give you for a nova, once they take your excess away and bump your premium up
TPO (or TPFT) polices rarely carry more than the minimum excess (I think I've only ever seen a couple in my time which carried a voluntary), which if you're over 21 is about £100 in most cases.
Plus if the fire starts in your car then burns the garage down...

Laid up cover but not many companies offer it
