Default Can u Kent Cam a Nova 1.2?

Hi all just a quick question really, i just want to know if you could put a fast road/rally cam in a nova 1.2 engine? If so what size engine cam would i need? and would i need anything else to go with it? I have also got a 1.3 webber carb on it at the moment.

    Cheers all.

    To my mind - why?

The cost of the cam kit vs a 1300 or 1400, taking the power increase in mind, it's a no-brainer.

Unless you are bound by some competition rules that mean you can't go over 1200cc.

If it's a road car, you'll probably find that the insurance hike for going to 1300cc is far less than declaring a modded 1200.

Have you fitted the downpipe and exhaust manifold from the 1.3 yet?

for a cheap mod, just chuck the 1.3 camshaft in (assuming you have the tool to take the cam out without needing to take the head off). Velos did that a few years back and got 5bhp extra out of a 1.2, not bad for the minimal cash involved.

I used a kent NVO63 cam with duplex springs and new followers in my 1.2, made a lot of difference and with a 4 branch and a nicely tuned weber 32/34 it was a totally different engine, revvy as you like and pulled like a train Worth it in my opinion if you can get hold of the parts of will have use of the parts later down the line like i knew i would do.
If Carlsberg did Motor clubs, then IDMC would probably be the best motor club in the world.

stu, you've mentioned this before.. any gen on if they actually tried to optimise the 1.2 engine & cam first before the swap???, cos when i did my 1.2+1.3=1.4 engine, i tried both cams & on factory timing, there wasn't a noticeable difference
