Everything was cut back way more than what normally would be cut back just to get to the good rust free stuff, both inner and outer arch was trimmed back, a new inner panel was then welded in, the fitment on this wasn't great but got beaten into shape and few little bits of metal added in at certain sections, I later found out that people use two outer skins for this process but this way worked.
The outer one was marked up and trimmed back as required until flush then spot welded in to keep the heat down and evertually fully welded to join everything.

From there decided to see if the other side was the same although this looked a lot better shaped I still imagined I'd have the same situation and I did.
Everything was cut back and replaced with the arch fitting well on this side too.
The shell was pretty much ready now to go off to the painters. This was roughly November 2016.
Lots more progress to update with.

More of a catch up update again, so the car went off in the condition below, I made up the trolleys for it to go on and made it easy to get around the spray unit etc.
Prep work started on a few panels with finding a few bits of rust on the doors in section but easily enough sorted.
The boot sections were welded up more flush along with the wings as there were previous sinking marks on the last paint job hopefully stopping this from happening again.
Welds were tidied up around the engine bay along with a section needing replacing due to a weak spot found by the painter.
Sorry for the pic heavy post.
    Thanks for looking.
    More updates coming

So, getting to the good bits now, I was pretty sure on the colour already but wanted a tester doing as in loads of pictures I had seen, the colour looked loads different in every picture.
I donated a spare wing I had to the painter and it came up amazingly well, couldn't be happier with the choice and will look just as I wanted it to when it's all painted.
A few pictures below with one of my mate (the painter) modelling the wing well

As the shell was off having work done I built the engine up which is further back in the thread and also got on with cleaning up the tank from the previous silver It had on it which had partly peeled up as the pump line had previously been leaking, it was stripped back to bare metal, primed and painted gloss black, I do like the look of carbon skinned ones but I imagine would be expensive.
I never liked the sunroof on the car too as I think it was a non standard tilt sunroof that leaked I just didn't like it, anyway decided whilst all this work was happening I'd weld it up, got a sheet of metal and just spot welded it in until it held up. Ground everything back and left it to be prepped and smoothed.
