    Default 1.0 named Josefien

Well, was thinking for a long time to put up my thread here too as the works on the Michalak are still in sleep-mode...
Had another one standing here and wanted to do something with it...
Note that the works started last year and the car is now almost finished

A little history of the car:

Bought the car in 2004 with 67.000 genuine km's from an old lady (first owner) and it was standing at the back of her house. It didn't start anymore and the garage said to her that many costs would be involved to get it running again.
Did a bid of 100 euro, took a spare battery and some tools and went there with the intention to drive it home.
All I did in the end was change the fuel line from the pump to the carb and it started with no further issue's. First registration of the car is April 1983 and was sold with a red standard interior with brown dash.

This is how I got her home:

Then I had the facelift on my mind and make it a bit more non-standard... the red interior was sold, a facelift grey came in, lowered a bit...

Looked pretty good back then and put on some Calibra LM's on (this was back in 2007):

Many pictures will follow in a few...

The car has been MOT'd to oldtimer here in Belgium so we can do some changes (Spring 2009)

    Some rust:

    Needs a new replacement arch:

    Some bits on the door:
    :

the red rears have to go, they don't fit in my future plans for this car:

    Another piece to renew:

    Corner rust:

This was red in the beginning, then turned to gray and something else on the way...

The roof will stay naked for the moment...

    Floor looks pretty good...

    Some stripping:

    More on the way...

    No rust...:

    A little place

Only underneath the rubber but not rotten...

the grey interior ready to be picked up by a friend...

    Back to pre-face...

Known place for a new panel...

    My new playground

    Brown dash, still looks cool

    Planning is:
    All rustfree
    Clean up engine
Smoor wheels of Egay, 7 and 8x13
    back to a red interior
    Satin white paintjob
    UK-rear-lights
and many many more... or not?...

    More to come...

    Stripped the doors

    Frontglass out...

    Loom out

Did a quick trip to Hamburg (1200 km's) to pick up the Smoor wheels from Enay... They come abit wide but not to worry at the moment...

    The working bro's...

    Grind, fit, more grinding...

Oh, they are taking pictures of us...

    Welding done...

    Preparing the inside for paint:

A place that many forget when painting and rebuilding a Nova, the inner roof, it can be a rusty place...

    In action...

Next things on the to-do-list (summer 2009):
    - wiring
    - interior
    - wheels
    - windows

    More to come...

    Sanded down:

    Sponsored by

    Painting:

My Luigi 30cm steering wheel on a modded Momo hubcap. I have it since 1994 and has gone in all my cars in all my years on the road... Will have to sort some snapp-off systems when my Michalak is finished so I can take it in the car that I drive.

    Prep to paint...

    More to come....

My spray booth I made with some tents with the wind as an air-displacer and the sun for heat... (some neighbours tought I had a refugee camp in my back-yard...)

At that point I only had 4 days to get it ready for a local meet that I organised... So a few thing to do back then... (September 2009)

Did get it ready apart from on part... the bonnet... So just drove there without it

February 2010: cleaned the car after sleeping all winter and took some shots with the Luxus red interior... Engine bay still needs sorting and the Smoor wheels need their refurb and then it's finished.... (I think...)

Looks pretty nice this way... And yes, more to come

New donor bought for parts for Josefien, my Michalak and for duick. An 84 which was ready for scrapyard but made it driving to my place. Will try to save as much as possible...

Josefien waiting to be worked on (March 2010)

Now for the Smoor wheels... Mmmm, started sanding down the lip and painting the inners to sell them since I found something else which is worth more the effort... So a quick refurb would do.

My newest found: 7x13 ET08 Graku Comp1 3-piece magnesium wheels... Multi-piece wheels have been always my favorite and since I have had 4 sets untill now of OZ Turbo's, I have some experience

Took them all apart and primered one...

After 2 coats of primer, 2 layers of black to shade down the red in the end...

    First coat of red...

The tyres 145-60-13 that are ordered should look like this on the Graku's

Hopefully I can finish this project soon as my Michalak is calling me...

One wheel done and 3 yet to go

This is it for the moment... Hopefully tonight I can start on the second to get it finished next week.
After the wheels are done, some "minor" details will be done to Josefien to prep her for a meet on the 22nd and 23rd of May...
