but to add when i was 17 (nearly 18) i got quoted 1300 on a 1.3SR which was in 2002

are you sure you haven't got an unconverted engine? I had a mate that didn't realise his 1 litre hadn't been converted and ran it on unleaded, he said its broke and i went to look at it checked timing etc as it was misfiring/backfiring i looked over the carb as i could hear it backfiring through it, got the engine started and wooooosh, if i didn't get my head out of the way as quick i don't think it would have been his bonnet that had smoke marks on it

if you use unleaded in an unconverted engine the first thing to happen is the valves will burn out
