Get a haynes manual if you dont have one already
go to your local motorfactors (not halfords) and order a full service kit for not alot of pennies. the haynes manual with give you a step by step guide on how to do, well alot to your car including basic servicing (its how i learnt).
Then personally i recommed 20:50 perhaps, thats what i use on my engine now, it runs fine on it and its a bit thicker than the usual stuff.
As for the carb is involved i would give it a while, maybe give it a little clean out?

Fitting twin 40s will need declaring to the insurance too, and will no doubt have the same effect on your premium as fitting a bigger engine. My advice is same as Connor's - service your 1.0 and wait til you can afford to insure a bigger engine.

Just order a 'full service kit'
And what ever it comes with fit,
Oh and get some oil, to do an oil change.
Should come with oil filter, air filter, plugs fuel filter
Maybe worth changing dizzy cap and rotor arm aswell?

EDIT didnt see the above post
