To the OP: get some quotes for a car that left the factory with the engine you want, then compare the differences.
Im 2200 on a standered mk2 1.2i FTL

are you sure you haven't got an unconverted engine? I had a mate that didn't realise his 1 litre hadn't been converted and ran it on unleaded, he said its broke and i went to look at it checked timing etc as it was misfiring/backfiring i looked over the carb as i could hear it backfiring through it, got the engine started and wooooosh, if i didn't get my head out of the way as quick i don't think it would have been his bonnet that had smoke marks on it
REALLY> wtf it must be ok on unleadedOriginally Posted by Jon_nova1
if you use unleaded in an unconverted engine the first thing to happen is the valves will burn out
nah it must be converted, its been driven all its life
thats what my mate thought, he'd been driving it for around 6 months not realising the previous owner had used lead replacement additive!
oh dear z, nah iv had it for a week now and when its warm its ok
how can you tell if it has been converted?
