    Default Alternator/battery light on/fuses blowing

Hi all i have a 1992 1.2 nova saloon been having problems with alternator been told alternator from early corsa is the same is this correct?

Borrowed one and fitted it, seems to be working and shows charging on meter. when key in ignition there are no ignition lights. but when started and give abit of gass battery light comes on, yet when i check battery reading shows charging. Also seem to be blowing fuses continuosly especially the one that controls fuel gage, temp gage and reverse lights.

    HELP????????????

would be checking for a ignition live and putting multi meter across battery when engine is switched off should read around 12.8 volts. start the engine and when charging it should read around 14.4 volts iirc. lower than 13.8 volts would be suspected alternator.
