Nice work with the brake lines.

thanks for all the comments! really does help with a builld.

its plasti-cote spray paint, comes in a yellow can and can be bought from b and q. didnt fancy halfords stuff and it seems quite tough compared to it.

    update

been a while since i updated this last, mainly due to the weather not allowing me to do much work. also having a brake pipe rust out on my vectra which didnt help matters. any way, on to the show....

since owning my vectra, ive known my brake pipes were quite corroded. i knew this 2 years ago but couldnt ever be bother to replace them. after going around a round about my hand brake light came on, checked the hand brake was off and gave it a wiggle incase the swith for the light was playing up. but to no avail, it never went off. pulled over and checked my brake fluid level, this was the culprit. went into work the nect day (saturday) to inspect my leak and the brake pipe that runs up above the rear suspension had corroded through. so i cracked on and lowered the rear subframe and removed the offending pipe. made up a new one, fitted and pressure bled the system. hooray, no more leaks.

gave the car a bit of a look over only to find this...

a few cable ties have sorted it for now.

onto the nova, the filler neck has been my main priority as i knew this would take all my brain power to route and make it. i bought some marine grade fuel hose, 51mm and 38mm thickness. tough isnt the word!! cut up some sections and the old filler neck and try to arrange a decent lay out.

i had to bore out a 38mm hole for the fuel hose to pass though from inside the rear arch into the inside where the rear door card sits.

i got this far as a real rough start. i then purchased a 38mm 45 deg alloy pipe to sort out the rest of the pipe work. welded back on the breather pipe to the highest point of the first joint. once i was happy with it all i gave all the pipes a lick of paint to tart them up.

my filler cap i had already stripped down due to needing to get a new set of keys for the barrel. ive also been in a pickle with what grey i want to use on the skirts, window surrounds and the fuel filler cap. i bought rover tempest grey and car plan grey 01. i tried the the car plan grey and to my surprise the colour is a god damn good colour. exactly the type of grey i was looking for. i never tried the other colour as i can return that now.

prepped, primed and painted both parts of the cap. re-assembled the barrel section of the cap and bought new stainless bolts for the mounting points on the cap.

with all my parts painted a couldnt wait to assemble them back on the car. lots of fiddling and twisting, i got the pipes in the correct place to be the finished article. rather pleased with how it came out. could have been a little tidier.

    thanks for looking
