Waxed the car today, then I took it for a spin and got a few photos.

She is now just about finished. I want to do the ode little job to get it 'right' but other than that I have done it

I intend to remove the front bumper and rad next week to investigate an oil like I have, and I also have a cleaner dash to fit some time. Wouldn't mind a new bumper to as mine has seen better days now.

Well I have done 800 miles in her now. A few problems have occurred since being on the road that I now intend to fix. Mainly being various leaks etc.

Well I knew I had a oil leak and a small water leak from the turbo so I investigated further.

I removed the rad and intercooler set up. One of the main plans was also to remake the exhaust and remove the intercooler. Main reason is its a little laggy and always has been with the intercooler set up on so as I have the pipe work etc I am going to risk running with out one to see if its any better.

So I found a slight oil leak from the turbo return, and the rocker cover. Lovely job and a water leak for the bottom hose housing.

Then I set about removing the unwanted bits of exhaust that were simply getting in the way.

Mocked up the new pipe set up.

I then set about making it work.

Perfect and there is a lot more space for the water/ oil pipes for the turbo now and I can still make the exhaust work relatively easy.

    Cleaned and painted.

and a quick polish of the other pipe.

I will hopefully finish the exhaust tomorrow

remember the difference it made when you first fitted an intercooler though. I think this may be a backwards step. I think the lag may be down to an enormous turbo on a little diesel

as I said last night it only made a difference because of how restricted the set up was.

I have experienced both with and without. With the standard 1.5 turbo it never needed one.. I don't care who says it does!
With the 1.7 turbo I only fitted one as the original 1.5 boost pipe wouldn't fit properly, there for extremely restricting it like I said to Lewis. When I then fitted the top mount which wasn't laggy at all everything was great even through it didn't work that great, I then made the front mount set up and had to make the pipes something like four foot longer which had a noticeable effect on the lag and dropped the boost pressure by 8 psi, Now I fitted the T25 turbo with the front mount the lag is still there, This is why I have removed it. It hasn't cost me a penny and worse case I could change it back but I do not think you really need them still because yes the I/C worked a bit but it still doesn't stop the heat soak from the engine on the manifold this is why I think its a waste of time. I predict overall it will be better but a little worse under prolonged thrashing. If I am wrong I will change it back.

Any way the turbo is now currently being rebuilt and today I have spent the morning sorting a couple of teething issues and polishing bits and bobs. Hopefully the turbo etc will be rebuilt and ready for a test next week.

Oh forgot to update the other day, the exhaust is now done.

    Added this bit.

    and then this bit.

    Then made this bit.

    Mocked up.

    And the finished product.

All I need to do now is wrap it again.
