whilst doing a bit of undersealing on the cav i noticed this...
it looks to be nothing structeral, just a piece of box section between the rear chassis legs. is it worth plating? or just leave and see what the MOTer says?

fill it with sealer then stonechip
better off doing it now instead of letting it get worse
Plate it up, my opinion is if there's a box section there, it's there for a reason!
With that as it is should the car get rear-ended (shut it pervs!) it's going to fold up a lot easier than it would.
looks like that is the box section that runs off to the nearside of the car. Agreed with everyone here, box section is usually structural, get it cleaned up & weld something in there.
Get it welded, shouldn't cost much or take long to do at all, since its under the car it wont need to look pretty.
Oh and it looks like you could do with a new exhaust rubber mount, that ones split.
its just a bulky bit at the bottom, its all goooodOriginally Posted by paul james
and ta for the input fella's, the mot's due in a coupla months, so i'll send it to my uncles garage and get him to weld it before he tests it
and about the rear end comment (ooh err!) i've seen what a cav can take from behind, my old fellas last one was shunted at approx 50mph... not nice even in a good car!
