Default Jafanans white sr nova project

hi everybody, after reading every thread int he country of nova rebuilds i thaught it was time i started my own

    oooo yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
after looking for a while and having money spare to buy one this wee car came up and bought it through jon44.
The car had been dry stored since 05 until a month or 2 maybe before i bough it but thankfully wasnt too badly exposed as the bodywork / rust / rot isnt too bad but general interiro damp an mold etc had started in the
i then just gave the outside a wash to see the general conditon of the body work as green glit and genral mold had taken over the window seals etc
the car needs a new front drivers window as it hada to be broke to get into the car at a time
obvisouly the bumper are faded but im not worried as i will be sorting that out when they come off
after the quick clean i took a few photos

    not 2 bad thankfully

    fresh'ish sills

all doors are solid, yet again thats what i like to see

this will have to be sorted also

looks like bird sh*t, , mmmmmm i cant waits ta clean that

genreal shots of strut tops etc

i plan to bring alll the arms back to bare metal and prime and repaint them all gloss black

quick photos to show the worst of the surface rust on the n/s wing

plans are to get it into a nice dry (locked,) shed (clearing one from clutter at the minute) then begin the stripping process.
1st - remove front panels (wings, bonnet, bumpers, lights etc to inspect for hidden rust
2nd - remove engine and general runnig gear to clear the engine bay
3rd - prep surface for seam welding to stenghthen the near 20 year old car
4th - seam weld engine bay around strut mounts and a new battery try, also a small patch in the boot (typical areas to go)
5 th - fully underseal the bottom of the car (even though its very clean) and get all the armas etc sandblasted and reapainted gloss black, reconditon the 2.0 brakes and new pads and discs all round depeding on condition
6th - clean the engine and repaint the bottom end etc but just polish up the head and slot it back into the freshly painted bay and new hoses maybe?
7th - once all welding and fabrication finshed start thinking about panels, what needs replaced or saved for respraying then just begin getting ready for a respray hopefully (if funds are there, if not the car will just sit there until the moneys there for a respray)
8 - rebuild the car and mot ands tax it
9 - enjoy it (loooooooooooooong way away)
as im just 19 and have 2 jobs to keep myself going il only have a sunday or late nights after work at 9
this is my first project so its going to be a big learning curve and il be doing most of the work myself with a little help from my big bro and daddy hopefully
wish me luck - new update soon just going to get it into a better shed this weekend

done a bit more work today, started getting the engine ready to be taken out
    how it sat this morning

quite bad but ive seen worse

i started poking the areas with a scredriver to uncover any rust between the sealant on the splashguards, (below) i plan to remake all of the effected bits

    after an hours stripping back

new battery tray required, not a big issue

    boot floor

probably the worst bit of rust on the car, i hope to cut out the entire corner and replace it, the chassi legs are fine but once i cut the floor out i will investigate further

    some interior pics

meet balou the bear, hel be keeping a keen eye over the build

i dont know exatcly what spec the brakes are - edit - grooved standards?

i then began disconnecting all pipes and removing any bottles, leads the majority of the loom whihc left me with this

having alot of bother getting the main hub nuts off as there on solid but after i get them off all i have to do is pop out the drives and get ready to lift the engine out

these little babies came in the post during the week, il not need them for a while but why not start collecting

more updates this week when the engine comes out etc
then i will begin prep work for the welding & fabrication
    :afro:
