Engine, that one leaks but at least it works. Poor Iain, one day he'll have an engine that he doesn't have to change as often as the oil.
This is my 3rd engine mate, spare number 2, been sat under the bench for a year, stored safely for just such an occasion!!
As for Iain, he brings it all on himself.
As it takes Iain an age for diary updates I thought I do some hot of the press only happened 30 mins ago progress pics.
He’s a hono and he knows it, cylinder no.4 getting some working so the new rings stand a fighting chance of bedding in.

PROJECT 2 FAST 2 FAT clicky
''lifes what happens, while your busy making plans''
Is it done yet?
Engine left mine at 12pm!!
I should go round and take some more progress pictures
Thanks for engine House. That's going to be stripped down and quickly inspected, if the bottom end is good I will hopefully be keeping it as a backup for if this ring doesn't bed in properly.
#4 cylinder honed
I did try removing the old rings to reuse them, but the top one is well and truly stuck in there
So the new piston got fresh new Mahle rings:
And she's home, all bolted up to the crank. Had to countersink the rod cap for the ARPs too:
Sump and gasket cleaning and reuse, this is now a pikey build
And started bolting things to my fresh new recon head. Collected this yesterday, it's a GM casting early head, which has been aqua blast cleaned, fully pressure tested, inspected, skimmed and rebuilt with new valves and valve guides. It's from an XE specialist up in Chesterfield called O'Dare Performance. His attitude and workshop were spot on so he may get more business in the future...
