is 'crispy' an official engineering termanology? its ok actually, a bit of surface rust and lots of dirt.

Technically, thin gauge material of a low tensile strength, I guess... but crispy is fine. Fcuked also works in place of a whole variety of other terms

well guys, havent been on here for a while, and havent really had much time to spend on the ol' girl either.... dribs and drabs really. just spent a couple of hourse stripping underneath so thought id share.

I've found some more of the dreaded rot this time on the chassis rail, im a bit unsure on how to fix this though as i dont want to put a new 'skin' on and then have the strengthening block rot from the inside out!

found some more on a spot weld aswell, attacked it with a wire wheel and tempted just to fill it with weld

nice work, i would just cut out the rotten section then bend out a channel like I_I then put over it and fully weld. fill with waxoyl or something to stop rust in the future.

cheers john. theres a solid block of metal in the rail that has also started to rot, im just concerned that will carry on rotting, even when waxoyl'd

Ref the chassis rail rust, i just cut it out where it was rusty, then made a bit to go back in that looked the same. Check the floor under it tho, as it's prob gone... I'd be temped to cut the other bit out where it's rusted too.

Good work getting the underside nice and clean.

yeah, I scraped the stonechip off by hand then attacked it with a twisted wire wheel on a 4 1/2" grinder. don't just go at the underseal with a grinder though.... makes a right mess!
