Everyone has different theories on engine run ins. Personally I would have put as close to 1000 miles on it as possible before climbing rpm much above 4,5k; then an oil change. You could just pootle...

Did you run new main bearings, rods & bearings, pistons & rings, cams & followers for the first time on the rollers that morning?
