I am thinking of converting a GSI to a C20LET. I'll be buying the chassis strengthening plating kit but is it necessary to do the stitch welding?
-
always advisable and easy to do really while the welder is already out.

Do I do the stitch welding before I weld the plates on? Also where does the stitch welding need to be done? Has anyone got any pics of their engine bays?

Pics are all over this thread.....

this is my first attempt at stitch/seam welding a nova bay, its a piece of piss to be honest bit of a kant on a mk2 nova as there is seam sealer everywhere! I also did around the engine and box mounts as im not using a weld in kit. Just start on 1 side and follow the seams! Easy peasy

Hi, can someone help me? Info needed.... I have a c16xe in my nova its been rolling roaded at 134BHP and I'm using solid mounts.. Should I stitch weld my engine bay or will it be alright? I've never really thought about it till I just read this thread. Thanks.

I would say you should be ok without doing it, but if you can weld etc I would do it anyway just for the added strength and piece of mind etc
