Petrol cap emergency!

Hi All,

Booked my nova in for its mot tomorrow, car has been off road for 10 years, 18 months with me and when it arrived i put 10 litres of fuel in it via cans, and as its just been moved about here and there it hasn't needed any fuel until now.

Cap will unlock then just spins continuously. The filler neck was not rusty. Locks as it should with ease and stays put.

Any ideas guys? Only discovered problem an hour ago so have called it off til morning.

Sorted. Put some pb blaster into the lock with no joy. Few taps with a plastic mallet then unlocked very slowly and as it caught i didnt go any further and pulled cap away from the body.

Sounds like it's time for a new one.

Can the dealers still source them? When i phoned my local one when i first got the Nova they said no to absolutely any parts lol

VW still support lots of bits for mk2 and mk3 golfs (i have mk2 gtis and a mk3 vr6)
and i was quite surprised the guy at the vauxhall dealers said feck all available [emoji23]
