As i heard some guys of you are very interessted in saloons,
i decided to show you my project as its devolpes.
Here are some pics as it arrived at our garage:

http://home.tiscali.de/corsamanta/TR_06-09-08_3.jpg

It came to me with a C14NZ engine already changed (was a C13N before).
As you can see some damage at the upper left front, which was already
changed to a facelift.

Overall it had some problems to be solved.
Some rust at the lower end as well as at the doors and around the
frontmask.
Here some pics of that probs, all taken from the right site, but the left looks
nearly the same:

Last pic is taken from the inside.

So i started working at the car.
First i worked on the brakes an the area around, so it looks like that now:

I added some disks of the astra 2.0 16V, which definetivly suit a nova
perfect.
And i bought a C16NZ engine which needs some cleaning to be done
and a fitting F13-gearbox:

The last days i worked at the rear of the car but i have no pics of that
work yet but will take some over the weekend.

As the project developes, I will report to you if you like

(sry for my english not beeing as good as yours ;))

Looks like you've made a cracking start!
..and looks in a similar condition to mine when I got it..

Just one question; whats been done to those rear arcges? A bit of pannel beating, or an extra piece welded on?

@Austin:
looks just like a bit of pannel beating, seems that is nothing added there.
But i know, its not looking very nice. Thinking about replacing this too.

@Matt:
I will replace the hatch front wings with original saloon's of the
pre-facelift (pre '91). Don't like that mixture of both. ;)

So, some work is already done:

- started to fit a Manta GSI rear spoiler:

http://home.tiscali.de/corsamanta/TR_07-05-09_6.jpg

- cleaned the engine:

http://home.tiscali.de/corsamanta/TR_07-05-09_1.jpg

- after Austin asked for, I had a look for the rear arcges and decided to
re-design them:

http://home.tiscali.de/corsamanta/TR_07-05-09_5.jpg

I think they look much better now

- at the moment Im working on the passengers door (right hand side)
but thats not as funny as it looks like. Welding a door is an awsome work.
(the door is at the right side of the picture above)

What is not on any pictures but already done:

- cleaned and mounted the rear windows
- mounted the tailgate and rearlights
- repaired the sun-window on the roof (how is it called in english?)

First pic of the rear arches looks like the lip has been removed and an extra piece welded on to extend them to cover the tyres without any rubbing. Nice to see another 2-door being given some love.

^^^^ coem to think of it i didnt think of that there 5 or 6 stud :S

anyone tell us what wheels they are ???

Marsi
14-05-07, 05:59 AM
that wheels are a coproduction of Powertech and Mangels,
known as "Powertech Sport Stahl Felge" oder "Mangels Chrom Stahl Felge"
in german.

Some fellows from VW may know them as Mangels Chrome wheels
for the old VW T2 or T3.

That is a set made in 7Jx14 et25 made to fit diffrent Opel/Vauxhall-modells
which i'm very proud of have found them for little money.

Do you not have issues with wheel bearings wearing out?

Marsi
15-05-07, 08:31 AM
if i got that right what wheel bearings are:

no, why should i?
I think that wheels are not to large to drive with, have seen some other
corsas/novas with larger wheels on.
the difference of the wheelsize isn't that much, is it?
i'm now driving on 175/65R14-wheels (GSI-Alloys),
the Powertechs will have 185/60R14. thats not much difference

P.S.: I'm not realy sure yet, if i got your idea right?!

Marsi

Don't have any idea how that parts of my Saloon are called,
but I think you fellows know what it is:

Got some pics of the front today. The front bumper needs some fitting
at the sides but the rest is already suiting perfect.
But have a look yourselves:
