as ive sed time and time again you dont need to run your 6x9's (or 7x10's) from an amp unless you head unit is less than 4x35 watts. i'd recomend sony top end 4 way 6x9's about 200W older models were 220W the number is 5694 or something like that. Just run FAT cable to them from the headunit and youll be laughing mate!! the speakers are about ?50 ish

the thing i dont understand about running fat cable is that the cable coming from the headunit is skinnier than an ethiopian. How is joing fat cable to that gonna give better performance?

it will reduce overall resistance and provide more surface area for the high frequency signals to travel along, therefore better performance of your speakers!! :) you join the fat cable as close to the head unit as possiable.

i need amps to run the 6x9s cos ive got an old pioneer head unit only running out 20-25 per channel and i dont have enough money at the moment to get a new one cos my system is on a budget!

Hook up 6*9s to an amp go with 250-300W JBLs again id say possibly a kenwood set. you should only run 6*9s of a unit if there under 90W cause youd be wasting there power and you should have got 5"speakers instead of the 6*9s.
what cambridge says is right with the thick cables and frequency but resistance aint a problem with ICE. the 25W from the unit the power will struggle to get to the end of the fat cable and youll hear nothing from your 6*9s as well as getting problems hiding the cable!! just get top quality speaker wire not the thin crap.

WHAT THE FUCK?? it would stuggle to get to the end if it was one single strand as thick as a hair!! the fatter the cable the lower the impeadence so what power there is will go to the speakers no get wasted down the cable, i mean i have 10AWG cable to my boot and that was easy to hide doen the middle of the car and its the bollocks. as for speakers you atleast double the power that the amp can throw out and give it a bit more then you have you speaker power. for example i had sony md headunit 4x40W and sony 220W 6x9's. it was the best combo ive heard for ?200, the bass was amazing no real need for a sub and it would distort them f you wanted to. this was because the NOMINAL power input was 40W which means they are very happy running off a headunit and no "wasted" power. as for JBL i think they are crap personally (i hate my jbl gto 6x9's)

I cant be aresed to get involved in this argument... But use decent thick cable whatever ya do. And cambridge is right, its a piece of piss to hide cable!

I'll second the opinion on the Kenwood HQ695's. Just fitted them in my car this weekend and they sound (and look) the dogs bollox.
