lo ppl, ok im getttin a bit tired of my 1.2, and i bin lookin on autotrader,and the GSi's look very nice indeed! Would it be possible for me to get insured on one and not get raped heavily if i do? i was thinkin of doin it after me 19th in may? i know this has come up many time b4 but ur advice would be much appreciated! Ive got pass plus and even tho there are companies that offer up to 30% discount with it...ive never used it. You will tend to find those who do take it are more expensive any way.

Pass plus, security, engine mods, body mods etc will vary the price with each insurance company. The only way you will know how much it'll cost is to shop around. Bounce quotes of each insurance company cos at the end of the day they want your money.

Just say, a vauxhall nova GSi, 1.6 engine,
and whatever has been done to it, its not compulsory to have a reg, they should all have a car database.

when they say what is your lowest quote so far tell a few porkies

thats how i got mine so low i was getiing quotes of like 800-900 on a 1.2
and they asked what is you best so far and i said 470 and they come back and say we cannt beat that but we will do it for 500 and throw in brakedown cover .
it always works

and 500 is not bad for your first year driving

i am on the save for loads of mods

At 19 I wouldnt jump straight from a 1.2 (insurance grp 4) to a GSi (IG 13).With zero no claims bonus and being so young they'll just laugh and say something like ?1500 Third party fire and theft. So for 1 years insurance you could have bought another Gsi.
If i were you i would look for something like an sr/sri (IG6-7). Insurance will still be expensive at around ?800-?1000 a year, but a lot better than ?1500 a year! ;)

Your gonna get raped no matter what m8y! i was gonna buy a suzuki swift GTI... till i got an insurance quote... ouchg ?2650... i advise you to get the 1.2 in your own name. and then after a year or two go for a gsi... you'll have no claims behind you then!

why not just pick up the phone and play them off against each other! I got quote for a 96-p 2.0 16v mondeo Ghia, fully comp @ 20, iyears no claims, a my fult accident in a high crim area(city centre of Sheffield)
?2010, ?1980 went into ensligh in my UNION building and told them got quoted ?1100 from direct line! they came up with ?1530 comp with european cover 30days in a row(good for shows)and a discount breakdown cover!
