Rather than meandering through the BS of what oil does and how wonderful it is. Simply post up what you use/how much/where from (unless its opie :p)/the use you give it (inc engine) and how often you change it.
eg
Engine oil
Millers 10w60 CFS (fully synth), £30/5L, BJ Ashpole in Bishops Stortford, Regular road use in a Z22SE 20K/year and the odd TD, every 9-12months or so
Gearbox fuid
Castrol SMX-S, £10/litre from halfords. Same regular road use. Changed once :)
Silkolene Syn-5 CRAP dont use it!
Brake fluid
ATE SuperBlue, £20/litre from k300motorsport, reg road and some track, changed 12-18months. Fantastic fluid but stains the pipes.
Mintex bog std dot 5.1, £10 for 3 litres from BJ Ashpole in bishops stortford, changed once thus far. Great fluid, dirt cheap so if it boils its not a bank breaker etc
