View Full Version : Why do the inside of my windows keep steaming up ffs? lol
Annoying issue more than a problem.....
Whenever i leave the nova overnight, or a few hours in works car park, when i come back to it all the windows are wet/steamed up on the inside, meaning i either have to
A-Wipe all the windows
B-Sit for about 10mins with the heaters on full blast.
The other cars on my drive/works car park aren't like it
And its doing my head in lol
It freezes over on the inside at night too...
Any ideas? i know on cars with a pollen filter, a damp filter can cause it, but novas have no such thing...... lol
Someone living in the boot maybe?
yea mine gets like that aswell. i put it down to them being rubbish built

Are all the rubber gromets tight in the engine bay, especially the one from the x16 loom you fed through? Also are the door and boot rubbers a tight fit?

if you leave the windows open it dont fog up lol
Ive not touched/changed anything for ages, and it never used to do it.
So i assume all grommets and stuff are fine yeah.
The floor etc isn't wet, so i dont think its leaking in anywhere

See 18+ section, its a no go zone..... lol lol
must be leakin/damp
by pulling bungs out etc will help prevent it - not make it worse
Its got to be leaking water in from somewhere,no other explanation, check heater matrix.Water IS getting in,just a question of where?
water is getting into your car either from condensation or rainwater. stick a small electric heater in the car on your drive & cook it dry, then get some silica gel granules (from diy stores it is used to keep secondary double glazing dry) & keep a pot of them in the car, it will suck the moisture out.
seeming as your fitting a heavy engine you might as well fit air con as well. That will solve the problem ;) lol

I've been having the same problem, I have just got myself a bottle of rain-x antifog it works a treat & is only a fiver.

rotten battery tray? that was the reason with my old nova.

As above, just cause the capetes dont feel wet doesnt mean the foam under them isnt. Any moisture will make the windows steam up.

Mine started to steam up all of a sudden. Turns out, after further investigation the windscreen I had fitted in the summer wasn't sealed properly.Water was coming in and running down the bulk head and onto the fuse box. Didn't notice til I left it out in the rain... I took it back and showed them and they've now sorted it
I had that exact same problem. In the end I found my heater matrix to be leaking. New heater matrix in now and have never had that problem again.
Think ive found the problem, one of the drain holes in the corner of the boot was blocked, so rain water must have been getting onto the boot carpet in the corners....
its a simple case of old car, increased moisture inside car and general Nova crappage!
Quick solution - go into B&Q or similar and get one of these -

mine done this and it turned out to be the water running from the battery tray down the inner wing then in a grommit soaking the carpet. had to remove the whole carpet to dry it!!
My boot carpet is soaked, so ive removed it :)
