wierd one this.

Here goes:

I have just converted the nova to xe, all wired up fine and ok, but come to fire it up and it wont start unless you have a start and charge on full whack.

Iv had the multimeter on it and with out the start and charge on when the battery reads around 12.5 volts - when you crank this drops off to around 10.5 volts.

When the start and charge is added the battery reads about 14.5 volts and when you crank this drops off to around 11.7 volts but the car will start eventually.

All the components are ok, eg, coil and amp, air flow meter, crank angle sensor etc etc.

I think it may be somthing on the novaloom side of it but im not sure?

Anyone experienced the same problems?

i would do a compression test on it. Sounds like the bottom end to me.

The engine came out of my belmont sri though and in that it started first turn of the key with no problems apart from it idled high.

It used to do this with the 1.6 gte engine in it and i ended up running another switced live to the coil. Iv tried this on the xe though and its no different.

Im utterly stuck!
