Headlamp Switch

Im just wiring up my Mk2 dash into my mk1 and have come across a random wire.Ive connected all the wires up on the switch and it all works fine.Just there is a single black wire thats left on the mk2 switch and no wire on mk1 loom to connect it to.What is it for and what does it go to please???

Its an ignition live, is it not the one that illuminates the headlamp switch???

Thanks mate i was thinking it might be for that,but which wire would it connect to?

I'd connect it to any nearby black wire its just to light the switch once you turn the ignition on iirc

Yeah it will be andy as when i did my dash swap years ago i wasnt quite as technically minded as i am now so i just left it and so it didnt illuminate lol
